Today I poured the silicon mould to cure over night. I figured that one of the segments for the badge had used 100g of silicon so I'd need at least 900g to cover all 8 and the center ring aswell as have about 10mm thicknes on top to keep it riged. This turned out to be abit too much but as I had no immediate other use for the excess silicon I used it all on the mould (see pic above).

I also tried out using some aluminium powder on a test segment with fast cast. Julia recommended that I dust the mould thith the powder not using too much then mix a little in with the fast cast then pour away.

Here is the resulting finish onced brushed with wire wool:

This gave me the opportunity to see how best to get a shine on the surface. There were little scratches that I felt added to the authentic metal look rather than hindered it. With my next experimental finishes I will try to do a test segment like this aswell to see how the materials respond to the varying amounts of buffing with wire wool and then with brasso and cloth.
