Today I finished another interview from Amalgam and did half of the last one. I'll finish it either later of tomorrow. I finished updating my CV.

In several talks with Will and Paul I have a better idea of how I will approach creating the master sculpt for my silicon mould.

Master model construction

Basicly I will create each of the points on the star individually. I will only need to make one 'hard copy' from which I can create a mold and then replicate 8 times to use on the master for the main mould. These can then be connected with a ring that will either be laser cut or lathed. The same goes for the letter which I should be able to trace on rhino.

The hard part really comes in the segments that make up the pattern on the points of the star. Not only are the individual segments tapered and off cut on top, they increase in size as they pan out from the center and are of varying sizes. As I am only creating one point then using that as a master to create a mould and replicate them I am tempted to combine materials to hand make it rather than machine it. However I may be able to create parts of it on the mill or CNC. I will decide on my method by the end of tomorrow so I can begin working by the end of the week.
